My bad experience on the main site led to a bad experience on meta. Now what?

At some point in the recent past, I posted a question or answer on Stack Overflow, and then something happened that I didn't like. It may have been downvoted, closed (questions only), deleted or edited, and I felt that it was wrong of the other person or persons to do this.

I heard about this site (the meta site), and determined that I should post here to make my case - clearly explaining that there must have either been some mistake or violation of policy, since I'm sure that my post was completely within the scope of what is acceptable on this site. In fact, when my questions are closed, it tells me things about the reason for closure that don't even make sense to me.

But things only got worse from there! My post here was similarly treated - with downvotes and attempts to close, delete or edit. Many people commented with varying explanations of policy that I couldn't reconcile, but they all seemed to have the theme that I was clearly in the wrong and/or should have known better.

How am I supposed to respond to this, especially when I know I'm right? It seems brutally unfair to get dog-piled like this. Is there a chance I'm being targeted for persecution, and what could I do about it if so? What mindset do I need to get out of this situation? And what could happen if I'm stubborn about it?
